Though 27-year-old Shohei Ohtani is already a household name after unanimously winning the 2021 American League MVP, he is still early on in his MLB career. It can be hard to come by a baseball not only hit by Shotime in a game, but also signed by the two-way phenom. That is exactly what is offered here.
On August 25, 2020, Ohtani stepped to the plate in the third inning of a game against the Houston Astros. He hit this ball to the left side of the infield and immediately raced down the first base line, using his great speed to beat the throw for an infield single. Ohtani finished the game 2-4 with that single and a seventh-inning two RBI double in a 12-5 Angels victory. The Rawlings ball was signed by the 2021 MVP in sharp blue ink the midst of his historic season on July 15, 2021. It exhibits excellent game use from that August 25, 2020 contest with infield dirt all over it.
