This classic Official National League (Giles) baseball was used in Juan Marichals June 15 1963 no-hitter against the Houston Colt .45s at Candlestick Park in San Francisco. The flashy right-handed from the Dominican Republic walked two and struck out five. It was the Giants' first no-hitter since moving cross-country in 1958 and ended a drought of 34 years since the franchise's last no-no by Carl Hubbell in 1929. Registering more wins in the decade of the 1960s than any other pitcher Marichal logged some gaudy Hall of Fame numbers finishing with a career 243-142 record and a 2.89 ERA. He was easily the finest pitcher of his era not named Koufax or Gibson. This historic baseball features a bold blue ballpoint Marichal signature on the sweet spot with inscriptions on the panel above and below noting Game Ball and No-hitter 6-15-63. Marichals All-Star third baseman Jim Davenport joined in the fun signing in matching blue ballpoint on another panel and offering an inscribed commentary: I scored the only run in Juans no-hitter" which he did. The ball shows considerable game use and is encased in a clear plastic display cube and original box.
