Directly from the family estate collection of Barney Stein comes these two large-format 11" by 14" original photographs of Marilyn Monroe at Ebbets Field before a May 12, 1957 exhibition soccer match between the American All-Stars and Hapoel Tel Aviv, Israel's top football club. One shows Monroe performing the ceremonial "first kick". Accompanied by players and team officials, Monroe is captured mid-kick as the soccer ball zooms towards the camera. A rare action shot of Monroe in one of her more sporty moments. The other shows her parading around the field in a convertible. Marilyn looks stunning as ever, smiling and waving to the crowd as the two soccer/football teams walk in a line behind the car. Each pristine photo was printed off its original negative from the famous Dodgers photographer's camera many years later. They have been professionally framed with a lovely white matting inside a thick wooden border (made of ash like most baseball bats). Both photos were on display as part of the Barney Stein Photo Collection exhibit in 2001 at the Frick Art and Historical Museum in Pittsburgh, PA. (Certificate from this exhibit included on reverse side.)DATE/YEAR: 5/12/1957GENERATION: First (printed from original negative)*Guaranteed to receive PSA/DNA Type II designation if removed from frame and authenticated.PHOTOGRAPHER: Barney SteinPHOTO DIMS: 11” x 14"FRAMED DIMS: 17" x 20"CONDITION: MintPROVENANCE: Family letter from Barney Stein's daughter Bonnie (Stein) CrosbyThese images are featured on pages 52-53 of Through a Blue Lens, a 2007 book by Bonnie Crosby and Dennis D'Agostino (forewords by Peter O'Malley and Carl Erskine) that chronicled Barney Stein's 1937-1957 Brooklyn Dodgers photography.
