Directly from the family estate collection of Barney Stein comes this large-format 11" by 14" original photograph snapped right after the final out of the 1956 World Series. For the second straight year the Yankees and Dodgers went the distance, only this time it was the Bronx Bombers who clinched the title on their N.L. rival's home turf thanks to a complete-game shutout from Johnny Kucks in Game 7. It marked the last postseason game ever played at Ebbets Field as the Dodgers would leave Brooklyn for Los Angeles after the '57 season. Yogi Berra (#8) can be seen walking away from home plate to avoid the mayhem that ensued on the infield. Dodgers bat boy Charlie "The Brow" DiGiovanna is shown in the foreground carrying a group of bats toward the home dugout. A timely shot foreshadowing two storied franchises whose cross-town rivalry would soon be separated by 3,000 miles. The crystal-clear black and white image was printed off the original negative from the famous Dodgers photographer's camera many years later. It has been professionally framed with a lovely white matting inside a thick wooden border (made of ash like most baseball bats). This exact framed photo was on display as part of the Barney Stein Photo Collection exhibit in 2001 at the Frick Art and Historical Museum in Pittsburgh, PA. (Certificate from this exhibit included on reverse side.)DATE/YEAR: 10/10/1956GENERATION: First (printed from original negative)*Guaranteed to receive PSA/DNA Type II designation if removed from frame and authenticated.
