On April 3 2005 a year after the Boston Red Sox came back from a three-games-to-none deficit in the ALCS against the New York Yankees the two A.L. East arch rivals squared off for Opening Day at Yankee Stadium. The Yankees blasted the Red Sox 9-2 that day and went to win the A.L. Eastern Division flag with a record of 95-67. This lot features Yankees’ Manager Joe Torre’s game-worn jersey from that victory. The white pinstriped jersey is sporting the team’s interlocking “NY” emblem on the left front chest in navy blue tackle twill. The rear exhibits Torre’s trademark uniform number “6” also in navy blue tackle twill stretching eight inches tall. Proper Majestic Authentic Collection tagging is sewn in to the left front tail with a pair of flag tags reading “2005” and “46” to recognize the season and jersey size. Torre has signed the front of the jersey in blue marker and added the inscription: “2005 game used AL East Champs.”
Includes Steiner Sports hologram (#08908) as well as MLB Authentication hologram (#MT 0091685).
