Offered here is an incredible game-worn autographed and inscribed artifact from arguably the most successful major league manager of the modern era and a Hall of Famer who parlayed a nearly Cooperstown-worthy career as a catcher first baseman and third baseman with his managerial success with the New York Yankees into his ticket to immortality. A nine-time All-Star Joe Torre won the 1971 batting title and MVP Award after hitting a startling .363 and also led both leagues in hits (230) and runs batted in (RBI) with 137. His playing career totals included a .297 batting average with 252 home runs and 1185 RBI in 2209 games. After his retirement as a player in 1977 Torre managed the same three teams for which he played before leading the Yankees and ending his managerial career with the Dodgers in 2011. Torre's most successful stint as a manager came with the Yankees whom he led from 1996 to 2007. The Yankees reached the postseason each year and won 10 American League East Division titles six American League pennants four World Series titles and compiled a .605 winning percentage overall. With 2326 wins he is fifth all-time in MLB history for wins as a manager. The white button-down jersey was worn by Torre on opening day in 2005 as the Yankees trounced their arch-rival Red Sox 9-2 with Hall of Famer Randy Johnson earning the victory over another former Bronx Bomber David Wells. The shirt sports the legendary Yankees pinstripes and Torres No. 6 on the back with the Yankees interlocking NY logo on the left chest both in navy blue tackle twill. There is a tag with Majestic Authentic Collection on the front tail. There is an MLB authentication hologram that is affixed to the main Majestic tag; below that is a 2005 tag and a 48 tag indicating the year and size of the jersey. The MLB logo on the back of the collar is embroidered in red white and blue stitching. A spectacular blue Sharpie autograph appears directly below the interlocking NY logo on the front with 2005 Game Used AL East Champions inscription added below. The jersey exhibits evidence of game use and is problem-free and without visible alteration of any description. Comes with Letters of Authenticity from Steiner and Major League Baseball.
