Its difficult to imagine a garment with greater historical import than the jersey worn by the Yankees opening day pitcher for the very first game played at the new Yankee Stadium to launch the 2009 season. This white button-down pinstripe jersey was worn by the Yankees ace CC Sabathia as the Yankees started their home season at the brand-new stadium built next door to the original Yankee Stadium. Sabathia with a lifetime log of 212-127 has been one of the most dominant pitchers in the game since making his debut with the Indians in 2001 but this time it was his former ball club that put a damper on the otherwise joyous proceedings dumping the Bronx Bombers by a 10-2 tally in front of 48211 patrons on hand to see history being made. The garment in question has the famous Yankee pinstripes and Sabathias No. 52 on the back with the Yankees interlocking NY logo on the left chest all in navy blue tackle twill. The lefthander has signed in silver Sharpie on his number on the back adding his No. 52 inscription; on the lower portion of the same number are holograms from Park Avenue Sports Marketing and CC Sabathia. The distinctive Yankee Stadium 2009 Inaugural Season embroidered patch is affixed to the left sleeve. There is a tag with Majestic Authentic Collection on the front tail and an MLB authentication hologram that is affixed to it. Four flag tags beneath the Majestic labeling indicate 200 Size 56 Plus 3 inches on the sleeves and Plus 2 inches on the body. The MLB logo on the back of the collar is embroidered in red white and navy blue stitching. The jersey shows excellent game use with dirt and rosin staining on the front that is easily photo-matched. It comes problem-free and without any visible alteration.
