Really nice pairing of original photographs featuring Sandy Koufax in action on the mound pitching against the Cubs at Wrigley Field on April 22, 1966. The second start (first on the road) of Sandy's dominant final season in which he won his third Cy Young went as expected: 9 IP, 6 hits, 11 K's and 1 ER in a 2-1 victory for the Dodgers. It was Koufax's second win of the season. He finished with 27 wins, 27 complete games, 317 K's and a miniscule 1.73 ERA (lowest of career).
Photo one shows Koufax winding up and photo two features the Hall of Famer about to launch the pitch with his leg extended. The wind-up photo has wear along the right side border with two noticeable crease tears. The leg-kick photo has heavy surface scratching that is more clearly visible at an angle with glare. The reverse of each photo is stamped with the press date (one day later) and handwritten notations, plus the actual newspaper clippings of this image used by the press.
