Directly from the family estate collection of Barney Stein comes this large-format 11" by 14" original photograph of the Dodgers lining up on the infield for their home opener in 1952. Hosting the New York Giants on April 18th, it was the first meeting between the two clubs since Bobby Thomson broke every heart in Brooklyn with his "Shot Heard 'Round the World" in the '51 playoff. Jackie is pictured in 4th position from the left, with fellow African American Joe Black in front. The players have their caps over their hearts as the National Anthem is being sung. This fantastic image was printed off its original negative from the famous Dodgers photographer's camera many years later. The reverse has a Barney Stein red stamp. Unframed with 1" white borders, it has minor edge wear from storage and comes with letters from PSA/DNA (Type 2) and Barney Stein's daughter.DATE/YEAR: 4/18/1952GENERATION: First (printed from original negative)PHOTOGRAPHER: Barney SteinSIZE: 11 x 14CONDITION: NM-MTPROVENANCE: Barney Stein's daughter, Bonnie (Stein) CrosbyAUTHENTICATION: PSA/DNA Type II LOAThis same image is featured on page's 22-23 of Through a Blue Lens, a 2007 book by Bonnie Crosby and Dennis D'Agostino (forewords by Peter O'Malley and Carl Erskine) that chronicled Barney Stein's 1937-1957 Brooklyn Dodgers photography.
