Perennial MVP candidate James Harden of the Houston Rockets compiled incredible numbers during the 2016-17 regular season. In his eighth NBA season "The Beard" averaged a career-best 29.2 points and a league-leading 11.2 assists per game stats comparable to the incredible 1972-73 campaign of Nate "Tiny" Archibald. In one of his finest outings of the year Harden and the Rockets squared off against LeBron James and the defending NBA Champion Cleveland Cavaliers on March 12 2017 at Quicken Loans Arena. In a hard-fought game in which the Rockets prevailed 117-112 Harden led the way for Houston by compiling a triple-double: 38 points 11 assists and 10 rebounds. This lot features Harden's game-worn and autographed Houston Rockets alternate jersey from that sensational performance en route to a possible MVP award come late June. The jersey is photo-matched by the experts at Resolution Photomatching and comes with impeccable provenance from an anonymous NBA source who attests to Harden signing it in person after the game.
The largely gray white and black short-sleeved mesh jersey has “ROCKETS” on the front in red tackle twill trimmed in black with “HARDEN” on the back in red tackle twill letters. His No. “13” appears on the front and back in black tackle twill outlined in gray. The embroidered NBA logo patch is sewn on the upper back. Shirt has appropriate Adidas Size XL tagging with "Length +2" flag tag on the front left tail. The adjacent NBA Authentication tag is coded "HRO 02606." Harden signed the back of the jersey in slightly faded black marker which remains legible against the gray mesh fabric. The collar sports black and red elastic trim with a gold "2X" NBA Champions patch sewn on celebrating the franchise's two back-to-back league titles in 1994 and '95. Inside the left inseam is the washing instructions and manufacturer's date tag. The shirt was not laundered after the game and still carries a strong odor of Harden's perspiration. Can't get more authentic than that! Overall it exhibits solid game use with some frayed numbers and letters and can be photo-matched to Getty image 652646432.
