When it comes to defining the term "clutch hitter" look no further than Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz. The 40-year-old "Big Papi" has repeatedly said that this will be his final season of playing big league baseball but is going out with an incredible bang instead of an aged whimper. The 2013 World Series MVP leads to Red Sox in both home runs and RBI and has Boston once again in position to earn the A.L. East flag. Having already surpassed Boston Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski this year in career home runs while wearing a Boston uniform Ortiz continues to shine under the most intense pressure.

This lot boasts a pair of memorable items from the long and storied career of one David Ortiz. The first component consists of a pair of his game-worn and signed New Balance black-and-white cleats from the 2015 MLB season. The size 12 cleats which shows ample usage with the insole actually missing from the right cleat are both sporting dirt on the shoes as well as the cleats. Appropriately the outside of either tongue is sporting the Dominican Republic flag emblazoned across the top with Ortiz's patented two-index-fingers-to-the-sky-upon-reaching-home-plate-after-a-home-run silhouette on the underside. Ortiz has signed the top of the toe area on both cleats in black thin-point marker and added the inscription "G-U 2015" to indicate they were game-used during the '15 season. His iconic uniform number "34" is emblazoned in black outlined in red across the back of both heels. The two different cleats include MLB Authentication (JB 037893 and JB 037894) and Fanatics COAs (0936516 and 0936517). Original shoelaces remain intact.

The second part of this equation comes via a game-used baseball from Ortiz's memorable 500th Home Run game on Sept. 12 2015 against the Tampa Bay Rays. In fact it was a game in which Big Papi launched home runs 499 and 500! The OML baseball shows plenty of game use from the visiting Red Sox's 10-4 victory over the Rays that night. Ortiz has signed across the sweet spot in perfect blue ink and added the special inscription "500 HR 9-12-15." The baseball comes with MLB Authentication (HZ 597195) and a Fanatics COA (0936516).
