Yadier Molina is widely considered the best defensive catcher in baseball. In 2014 the St. Louis Cardinals backstop batted .282 with seven home runs and 38 runs batted in. Offensively it was a sub-par season slowed by injuries. Yet he was an All-Star for the 6th straight season and won the Gold Glove for the 7th year in a row. The Cardinals finished 90-72 and won their 2nd straight division crown. The defeated the Dodgers in the NLDS before getting knocked out by the eventual World Series Champion San Francisco Giants in the NLCS. Featured here is a Yadier Molina game worn road jersey from the 2014 postseason. Cardinals played five road games during those playoffs: two in Los Angeles in the NLDS and three in San Francisco. Molina was injured in Game 2 of the NLCS and did not play the remainder of the series. There is not enough evidence from game photos to determine which game he wore this particular jersey.
This size 50 Authentic Majestic Collection polyester jersey was presented to us as game-worn and shows obvious wear. The Cardinals road jersey includes the MLB "POSTSEASON 14" patch on the right sleeve and Molina's last name appears in red chain-stitching on the right front tail. Molina has signed the back of the jersey on the bottom of his uniform number "4" in black marker. It should be noted that the MLB database attests to the jersey as being team-issued and received November 10 2014. If MLB does not receive an item within a certain amount of time from a team or player they are required to call it "game/team issued" per their policy.
