During 2012 spring training Bryce Harper was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse where he started the season playing exclusively in center field. Harper was called up to the Nationals on April 27 2012 after Ryan Zimmerman was placed on the DL. He made his MLB debut with the Nationals the next day against the Los Angeles Dodgers and would never look back going on to win 2012 NL Rookie of the Year honors. Immense hype has continued to follow Bryce Harper throughout his young baseball career but he truly began to fulfill it in 2015 when he stayed healthy enough to produce monster numbers. With a slash line of .330/.460/.649 and 42 home runs to go with 99 RBI it was nearly impossible for opponents to keep Harper off baseor in the ballpark for that matter. The Washington Nationals star was rewarded by his peers taking home the 2015 National League MVP award.
From Harpers outstanding rookie season this 2012 Marucci Model Number Luke 1:37 measures 34 inches at a weight of 33.2 ounces. The maple bat with a Black/Cherry finish has a cupped end is un-cracked and exhibits evidence of outstanding use. Many ball marks and ball stitch impressions are visible on all sides of the barrel. Ball marks include blue ink transfers and white leather scuffs. Cleat marks can be seen on the all sides of the barrel. Also visible on the bat is an impression from a weighted batting donut and there is a heavy coat of Mota Stick on the handle. The mark visible on the handle identifies the face grain of the bat. This is a mandatory marking per Major League Baseball for all maple bats since January 2009. The date of manufacture (07/28/12) Harpers number (34) length (4) and weight (2.5) are stamped into the knob. For a player with unlimited talent like Harper the time to invest in a limited commodity such as a quality rookie bat like this is NOW.
