A fireballing Los Angeles Dodgers lefthander whose name begins with a "K" would likely have found himself inevitably compared with an earlier pitcher of that description but it also seems likely that Clayton Kershaw would have found himself being compared to Sandy Koufax even if he had been ambidextrous and his last name began with "Z." Kershaw now 26 has played six years in the major leagues since debuting in 2008 and his career earned run average is the lowest among starters in the lively ball era with a minimum of 1000 innings pitched. He has a lifetime 77-46 mark and 1206 strikeouts which for what it's worth is a much faster start than Sandy had say roughly six decades earlier. In 2011 he won the pitching Triple Crown and the National League Cy Young Award becoming the youngest pitcher to accomplish either of these feats since Dwight Gooden in 1985. It was his second Cy Young Award and third consecutive ERA crown which if you'll recall sounds a bit Koufaxian too. With that introduction we unveil with a gasp a glistening white Dodgers 2009 game-worn home jersey from Kershaw a real treasure from the greatest young pitcher in the game. The shirt shows game use and is problem free with blazing Dodger blue tackle twill scripted "Dodgers" angled across the chest and red tackle twill No. 22 on the chest. The Majestic tag with Size 50 appears on the front-left tail above a slightly faded Dodgers 2009 equipment tag; the small Majestic "Cool Base" tag appears on the left seam. A white felt tag on the collar has "22 50 09." "Kershaw" and his No. 22 on the back and the Dodger's "LA" interlocking letters logo on the left sleeve are all in blue tackle twill; in addition the iconic red white and blue MLB logo tag appears on the back of the collar and the Majestic embroidered logo is on the left sleeve beneath the "LA" logo. Kinda fun to imagine picking up a jersey from either guy whose name begins with "K" especially this early in the career that likely will finish with a plaque in Cooperstown.
