When the Pittsburgh Steelers earned their sixth Lombardi Trophy with a thrilling 27-23 Super Bowl XLIII victory over the Arizona Cardinals in Tampa on Feb. 1 2009 the team spared no expense in creating a most memorable championship ring. The heart-stopping win also Pittsburgh's second Super Bowl victory in four years. In this game the Steelers jumped out to a 177 halftime lead aided in large part by linebacker James Harrison's Super Bowl record 100-yard interception return for a touchdown. Trailing 207 at the start of the fourth quarter Arizona scored 16 straight points including wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald's 64-yard touchdown reception to take the lead (23-20) with 2:37 remaining in the game. But Pittsburgh battled back and marched 78 yards to score on wide receiver Santonio Holmes' 6-yard game-winning touchdown catch with 35 seconds left. Holmes who caught nine passes for 131 yards and a touchdown including four receptions for 73 yards on that final game-winning drive was named Super Bowl MVP.

Offered here is a 2009 Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl XLIII Championship ring that was awarded to team member and wide receiver Dallas Baker. It represents the first Super Bowl XLIII Championship ring ever offered publicly. In creating the ring that would recognize the first NFL franchise to win six Super Bowl championships the Steelers wanted each of the different elements of the piece to reflect the historical significance of the accomplishment. Six round brilliant cut diamonds surround the Steelers logo to draw the eye to the ring crest with each gem signifying a Super Bowl victory. The Steelers logo is formed with yellow red and blue stones in the shape of hypocycloids sitting atop a football-shaped design created with 32 round diamonds. Seven diamonds at each tip of the football recognize the teams seven AFC Championships. One shank of the size 11.5 ring depicts six Lombardi Trophies rising from Heinz Field to recognize the support and loyalty of Steelers fans. The score of the game Pittsburgh 27 Arizona 23 flanks the Lombardi trophies with the official logo of Super Bowl XLIII on a field of green enamel included as well. The opposing side of the ring is personalized with BAKER 81 to reflect the players name and jersey number. That side also incorporates the Steelers helmet and the NFL shield to acknowledge both team and league. The ring is cast in 14 karat yellow gold with black antique backgrounds to reflect the Steelers colors. The Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl XLIII World Champions ring weighs 104 grams (approximately 3.7 ounces) and incorporates 63 round brilliant cut diamonds totaling an amazing 3.61 carats.
