Offered here is a 2008 Boston Celtics NBA Championship staff ring presented in its original custom rosewood display box. The 14-karat gold ring comes in size 10, weighing 65 grams, and shows very little wear. The face displays "World Champions" in raised lettering with a shamrock motif in green gemstones atop a field of genuine diamonds. One shank has "Banner 17" and "2008" along with Celtic's regular season record ("66-17") and team mantra, "Ubuntu" (African for "I am because we are") at the bottom, with the Celtics green enameled logo at center. The other shank has the staff member's last name "Friedberg" with the NBA logo, "17" (number of NBA titles) and a hoop motif with a real diamond basketball, all surrounding a Celtics green shamrock logo at center. Engraved inside the band is "Red Auerbach" in cursive along with rink maker "Balfour" and the "14K" hallmark. The wood presentation box (NM-MT) with glass lid is engraved "BOSTON CELTICS / 2008 World Champions" with the name "BARRY S. FRIEDBERG" and a listing of all 17 Celtics championship seasons to that point.
The 2008 squad will be cherished in Boston fandom and glorified in NBA lore forever as the team that introduced us all to the first modern-day "Big Three". Thanks to an aggressive free-agent signing spree from the front office run by Danny Ainge, the Celtics were able to lure Kevin Garnett from Minnesota and Ray Allen from Seattle to join Paul Pierce and create a deadly threesome of perrennial All-Stars on the parquet floor of TD Garden. Doc Rivers' boys knocked off LeBron's Cavs in the Eastern Conference playoffs before taking out Kobe's Lakers in the Finals for the franchise's record 17th NBA title.
