Offered here is essentially the complete Team USA outfit worn during the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympic Games Opening Ceremonies by a member of USA Swimming. Each article was made by Ralph Lauren. All that is missing is the white cap and a white dress shirt. The USA Olympic team was led into Beijing National Stadium better known as the Bird's Nest by U.S. flag bearer Lopez Lomong one of the Lost Boys of Sudan. It was one of the more memorable team entrances during a spectacular show put on by host China. Starting at the top we have the Polo by Ralph Lauren navy blue 100% wool sport coat with the Beijing Olympics and Team USA logos sewn on the right breast. A tag with the same logos reading "Official Outfitters of the 2008 Olympic Team" is located above the lower left interior pocket. No size is indicated. Next is a Ralph Lauren tie and belt in the same red white and blue colors but different design. The nice pair of white 100% wool pants has the same interior USA and Beijing Olympics logo tagging as the jacket and again no size given. Even the shoes are included with this group a sporty white pair of size 14 canvas Polos with patriotic USA stripes and the same USA and Beijing Games logos. They come with white Polo socks. All items exhibit appropriate signs of wear. The jacket could use a dry cleaning and the hem in the pants has come undone. The outfit was procured by a friend who donated them to the museum.
