The $100 gold coin commemorates the XV Olympic Winter Games held in Calgary in 1988. The obverse has an image of Elizabeth II with her name the Canadian Maple Leaf and "CANADA 1987". The reverse portrays a hand holding the Olympic Torch with a stylized flame forming an image of the Canadian Rocky Mountains plus "CALGARY 1988" the Olympic rings a snowflake and "100 DOLLARS" at the bottom. This is the second $100 gold coin to have a lettered edge which reads "XV Olympic Winter Games - XVes Jeux Olympiques D'Hiver." Composition: 58.33% gold 41.67% silver. Comes in brown leather case and brown box with Olympic logo. Royal Canadian Mint COA numbered 77514.
The $20 silver coin set also commemorates the XV Olympic Winter Games held in Calgary in 1988. The complete set contains 10 Sterling Silver commemorative $20.00 coins each containing one ounce of sterling silver and each depicting a different Winter Olympic sport: Downhill Skiing Speed Skating Hockey Biathlon Cross-Country Skiing Free-Style Skiing Figure Skating Curling Ski-Jumping and Bobsleigh. Comes in plush green velour case. Royal Canadian Mint COA numbered 201345.
Includes Letter of Provenance from the Newport Sports Museum.
