Presented here is a Liverpool FC Premier League home jersey from the 2008/09 season worn by Spanish striker Fernando Torres and preserved in the Oscar Bernardi Collection. Torres wore this style during his celebrated 2008/09 season with The Reds when he scored 22 Premier League goals. "El Niño" (The Kid) remains one of the most beloved strikers in Liverpool's modern history, having scored 81 goals in 142 matches across all competitions from 2007-11. His two stints with Atlético Madrid at the beginning and end of his club career, along with his 110 caps and 38 goals for La Roja (2003-14) established him as a Spanish football legend.
The short-sleeve jersey made by Adidas in the brand's lightweight performance fabric comes in Liverpool's iconic all-red home colorway. It features a V-neck collar with a red and white checkered interior lining — a nod to the historic "This Is Anfield" sign — and white Adidas three-stripe detailing along the shoulders. The right chest carries the Adidas logo alongside the embroidered Liverpool FC crest with its iconic Liver Bird design. Barclays Premier League patches appear on both sleeves. The Carlsberg sponsor appears prominently in white across the chest. The reverse displays the "TORRES" above his iconic "9" in white felt material, with the Premier League lion watermark integrated into the base of the number. The shirt exhibits solid evidence of match use with stretching and sweat staining. The adhesive used for the applied kit sponsor logo has become sticky with age.
The Oscar Bernardi Collection
This shirt comes from the personal collection of José Oscar Bernardi, better known as Oscar, who played for the Brazil National Team from 1977 to 1986. Included is a letter of provenance signed by Oscar. Most jerseys in the collection were obtained directly through player swaps after competition. Others were acquired via gifts or trade with footballers in Oscar’s wide network of teammates and friends. At age 71, he still resides in Brazil and is ready for his collection to be appreciated by others in the hobby.
