In his 2003 rookie season, Miguel Cabrera helped lead the Florida Marlins to their second World Series title. Miggy became the face of the Fish and one of baseball's most talented stars during his brief tenure in Miami that lasted through 2007. He then moved on to Detroit where he won two AL MVPs, four batting titles and a Triple Crown in 2012. He is the most recent addition to the rare 500 HR / 3,000 Hit Club, which only has seven members.
This lot offers a 2007-8 era Miguel Cabrera game used Zinger '24' professional model bat. In 2007 with the Marlins, Cabrera batted.320 with 34 homers and made the NL All-Star team. In 2008, his first with the Tigers, the powerful right-handed slugger led the AL in homer with 37.
The Zinger '24' series bat (34" and 31.2 oz.) shows definitive signs of game use. Many ball marks and scuffs cover the barrel, and a heavy coat of pine tar is found on the handle. A white "24" sticker on the knob end indicated this may have been used in 2008 with the Tigers. Cabrera autographed the barrel of the maple bat in silver permanent marker, ideal for display. John Taube of PSA/DNA has given the bat a perfect GU 10 grade. Includes PSA/DNA sticker cert for the autograph.
