With apologies to home run king Sadaharu Oh Ichiro Suzuki is now the most famous Japanese baseball player in history. Since his MLB arrival in 2001 with the Seattle Mariners he has turned professional baseball on its ear with his prolific hitting exploits that now number 3080 hits total including 2362 doubles 96 triples and 117 home runs. He’s been called a hitting machine and with good reason as he collected more than 200 hits in each of his first 10 MLB seasons.

In 2007 while still playing in Seattle the man who wore uniform number 51 batted .351 and led the American League with 238 total hits. This lot features a pair of his game worn Asics Signature Model turf shoes from that memorable season in Seattle. The Mariner blue black and gray turf shoes show game usage with field remnants still embedded in the rubber soles. The very personalized pair read “ICHIRO” in raised black-and-gray rubber lettering across the outside of both shoes and include his trademark number “51” in similar style raised numbering on either heel. Both tongues read “ASICS” in blue on gray and the original Navy blue shoelaces are still intact in both shoes.
