Offered here is a beautiful 2006 Torino Winter Olympics torch used in the flame relay from Olympia Greece to the Italian host city also known as Turin. Designed by Pininfarina of Torino the unique look is intended to resemble the front of a ski as well as the Mole Antonelliana building in Turin. It is certainly a modern interpretation of the traditional wooden torch. Made of blue techno-polymer-coated aluminum it is curved to a length of 34.5 inches (88 cm) and weighs over 4 lbs. Stamped on the shaft is "torino 2006" with the logo from these Games and the five Olympic rings. The flame area with 13 circular holes for the burning Olympic Fire shows very light evidence of being lit. The number "90" is penned on the bottom of the handle. Most of the these come scratched and significantly more worn on the handle due to the blue coated surface area but this one presents virtually Mint. Great memento from snowboarding legend Shaun White's Olympic debut at age 19 when the "Flying Tomato"--as he was dubbed by the Italian media--took his first of three gold medals in the halfpipe.
Includes its original gray carrying pouch and a black metal stand for proper display.
