Addendum: New important details have been added to this description.

This spectacular 14-karat gold ring commemorating the Detroit Tigers' improbable run to the 2006 American League pennant was awarded to former MLB player Francisco Cabrera who served as a hitting coach in the Tigers farm system that season. Of course, Cabrera is best remembered for his heroics with the Atlanta Braves in Game 7 of the 1992 NLCS against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Pinch-hitting in the bottom of the ninth with two outs and the Bravos down one run, Cabrera delivered a clutch game-winning, series-clinching single to left field that scored David Justice and a sliding Sid Bream just ahead of Barry Bonds throw from the outfield, ruining the hopes and dreams of Bonds, Bonilla, and company. Ironically, the Pirates manager at that time, Jim Leyland, was the skipper for these same 2006 Detroit Tigers fourteen years later.

The face is dominated by a diamond-encrusted, blue-enameled Olde English "D," Detroit's signature emblem, ringed by dozens of pave-set round diamonds and flanked by "AMERICAN LEAGUE" and "CHAMPIONS" in bold black-enameled block lettering. One shoulder depicts a sculpted American League eagle beneath a diamond-lined "2006," while the opposite shoulder features the recipient's name, "CABRERA," above a blue-enameled leaping Tigers mascot logo bordered in diamonds.

The interior shank is stamped with the ring's fineness and size. Weighing 57 grams and sized 13, this is a substantial, wearable piece of championship jewelry befitting a team that shocked baseball by advancing from a Wild Card berth all the way to the World Series. The ring is presented in its original wooden display case, the glass lid custom-etched with the Detroit Tigers script logo, the American League Champions 2006 banner and MLB Detroit "D" crest, and the recipient's name, "Francisco Cabrera," making this a complete, display-ready presentation.

A tangible artifact from one of the most memorable pennant chases in modern Tigers history, this ring is a must for any Detroit sports collection or championship ring collector. Comes complete with its original presentation box.
