A truly electrifying player with a flair for the sensational Allen Iverson was an 11-time NBA All-Star and four-time scoring champion. He was one of the most prolific scorers in NBA history despite his small stature (listed at 6 feet 165 lbs.). His regular-season career scoring average of 26.7 points per game ranks sixth all time and his playoff career average of 29.7 points is second only to Michael Jordan. Playing most of his career in Philadelphia with the team that drafted him #1 overall in 1996 "AI" won NBA Rookie of the Year honors and was later named league MVP in 2000–01 as he took the 76ers to the 2001 NBA Finals. This lot offers a nostalgic pair of Iverson signature model Reebok sneakers game-worn 2006-07 during his brief tenure with the Denver Nuggets.
The original Reebok Question was A.I.'s first signature model sneaker released during his ROY campaign in 1996-97. Ten years later Reebok released a retro version of the groundbreaking shoe. Shortly after Iverson was traded to Denver in December 2006 he sported this Question PE (Player Exclusive) colorway in Nuggets-themed white and baby blue. Photo research on Getty photo/style matches this pair to two Denver home games: 12/31/06 vs. Dallas and 1/19/07 vs. Cleveland. "The Answer" tallied 28 and 25 points in those games respectively.
The shoe features a white leather upper with blue suede overlays Hexalite cushioning and a translucent ("NON MARKING" as it states) outsole. The Question "Q" logo is embroidered in orange on the blue upper heel with Iverson's No. "3" below. The tagging found under the tongue indicates his size 10.5. The original laces and insoles are present. Iverson has signed each shoe on the outer toe area in 8-9/10 black Sharpie. The pair shows moderate wear with heel drag and court usage on the outsoles. All structural elements are as-issued and perfectly intact. With "AI" about to be inducted into the Naismith Hall of Fame this September what a great opportunity to own a special piece from one of basketball's most revered ballers in the modern game!
