Carmelo Anthony came into his first NBA season fresh off leading his Syracuse Orangemen to the 2003 NCAA Championship. The Denver Nuggets drafted the 6'8" forward with the 3rd overall pick and he averaged an impressive 21 points during his rookie year helping them reach the playoffs. Featured here is a Carmelo Anthony game-worn jersey from his rookie season with the Nuggets who made the playoffs that season in large part because of their star rookie. Now with the New York Knicks "Melo" has since developed into one of the NBA's best scorers and may very well be enshrined in Springfield Mass. some day.
The Reebok size 52 white home jersey has 'NUGGETS' and Carmelo's no. '15' front and back in baby blue tackle twill with yellow piping. A triangular yellow patch with 'D' is sewn just below the neck. 'ANTHONY' in baby blue lettering is stitched on the back. The sides feature a thick blue and yellow strip pattern. The Reebok manufacturers tagging at the front shirttail has the NBA and a cool Denver Nuggets 'DN' logo with three flag tags including '2003-2004" '2"L.B.' and '52'. The jersey shows light-to-moderate wear with slight fraying in the yellow piping. Comes essentially as-issued and problem-free. Awesome piece that would go great with his Rookie season game-worn shoe (Lot 682) also featured in this auction.
Includes a Letter of Opinion from MEARS graded A5. Also comes with Auction LOA from Grey Flannel / Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
