This Boston Red Sox home jersey was worn by Pedro Martinez during the 2002 season a campaign after which he was deserving but mysteriously snubbed for what would have been a fourth Cy Young Award. The white knit button-down garment features twill identifiers and proper Russell Athletic tagging. Light wear is evident. As for the Baseball Writers Association of America they apparently tried their hand at Oscar-like voting seemingly indifferent to the fact that Martinez led the league in ERA (2.26) winning percentage (.833) and strikeouts (293) in 2002 yet was the only pitcher ever to lead all four categories and not win the Cy Young Award. The white knit button-down garment features RED SOX arched across the chest in red-on-blue twill and 45 sewn to the back in like fashion. Red piping lines the collar and button path while an MLB silhouette logo is sewn atop the back. On the left front tail a Russell Athletic label is accompanied by an adjacent 2002 strip tag a 2 " Extra Length tag a 2 : armhole opening and a size 46 fabric content tag. The jersey includes the Ted Williams tributes (armband and No. 9) on the right sleeve.
