Coming off his record-setting 73-homer campaign in 2001, Barry Bonds had a second straight National League MVP season in 2002. The slugger led all of baseball with 11.7 WAR, an astounding 198 walks, .370 average, and a blistering 1.381 OPS. He helped lead the San Francisco Giants all the way to Game 7 of the World Series. Presented here is a SAM 'Bonds 2K1' bat used during the final months of another incredible 2002 season in which the Giants won their first NL pennant since the tragedy of the 1989 "Battle of the Bay" World Series.

The uncracked maple bat exhibits evidence of outstanding use with several solid contact marks on the barrel. The length of 34 inches and weight of 31.8 ounces (tape job and swelling now make it 33.5 oz. according to Taube) are written on the cupped barrel end in black ink along with "10 09 02" (manufacturing date Sept. 10, 2002) "SG1" and "B.B."  Barry's patented spiral tape pattern covers the handle with remnants of pine tar and dirt from in-game action.
