As the longtime radio broadcaster for the Anaheim Angels the late Rory Markas was considered by many to be the voice of the Angels. He covered the team for eight seasons as their play-by-play broadcaster including their World Series winning campaign of 2002. This beautiful 10 karat gold 2002 Anaheim Angels World Series Championship ring was awarded to Markus based on his dedicated services to the team. The ring is the exact same size and specifications as those given to the players. After falling behind in the Series three games to two the Angels came back in dramatic fashion to defeat the Giants and take their first World Championship. A large "BIG A" appears at top center comprised of red rubies atop a bed of real diamonds (approx. 175 points). "WORLD CHAMPIONS" is lettered across the top and bottom with a row of more real diamonds along each side edge. Left side has "MARKAS" "2002 WORLD SERIES" "99-63" and a small MLB red/blue enameled logo. Right side features "ANGELS WORLD CHAMPIONS" with raised images of Angel Stadium and the World Series trophy. The ring weighs 45.5 grams and is a size 11 1/2. Inside band is stamped "INTERGOLD 10K". A highly impressive ring for one of the teams hardest working broadcasters who passed away unexpectedly in 2010 at the age of 54.
