Addendum: No LOA from Witt as stated in catalog.

Right-handed pitcher Bobby Witt played a total of 16 seasons in the major leagues and it was in his final 16th season of 2001 that Witt tasted victory in the World Series. His team the Arizona Diamondbacks outlasted the vaunted and three-time defending World Series Champion New York Yankees in an outstanding seven-game Fall Classic. Although he only pitched one inning of one game in the 2001 World Series Witt did strike out a batter and made sure his name was permanently inked in the baseball record books.

This lot features Witt's 2001 Arizona Diamondbacks World Series Championship 14K gold ring. The seventh and deciding game of the 97th Fall Classic between the D-Backs and Yankees was played less than two months after the dreaded 9/11 attacks. Thus the championship rings produced by Masters of Design incorporated an interior memorial engraving reading: "9-11-01 / Never Forget." The ring features the Diamondbacks distinct "A" logo resembling rattlesnake skin outlined in one of the team's original purple cap and uniform color. It is raised over a bed of diamonds a total of 277 points of diamonds surrounded by "World Champions 2001" lettering and four golden baseballs. This diamond-crusted 14K-gold size 10 ring exhibits NM-MT in display appearance. One shank has player's name "WITT" and another full Diamondbacks logo over an American flag and state flag of Arizona. On the opposite shank a snake in the form of the Diamondbacks letter "D" logo and the Yankees interlocking NY are above the numbers 4 and 3 signifying the final game score of the series. This is superimposed over the Diamondbacks Bank One Ballpark and the words "Fastest Ever" in reference to the four-year franchise's World Series victory and an MLB logo. A very special piece of sports jewelry commemorating one of the greatest and most meaningful World Series ever played in American history.

Includes purchase LOA and appraisal letter from Masters of Design.
