It’s hard to think of a player who made more of an impact his rookie season than Albert Pujols did in 2001. He singled in his first game and then a few days later went 3 for 3 with 3 RBI and clubbed the first of his eventual 37 home runs that year. Pujols hit .329 and helped lead the Cardinals to the post season where he hit a game-winning home run off Randy Johnson to win Game 2 of the NLDS. Pujols would end the year by being named the NL Rookie of the Year and winning the first of his six Silver Slugger Awards.
This Pujols rookie pro model 'SG1' Sam Bat displays excellent game use with a repaired handle crack. The left barrel shows several ball marks with stitch impressions and blue ink transfers. The imprint of a weighted batting donut is found on the barrel. Pujols’ number “5” is handwritten in black marker on the knob while his initials “A.P” and the bat’s specs are handwritten on the barrel end in black marker. The future Hall of Famer has signed the barrel in bold black marker with the inscription, “ROY 2001.” This Pujols rookie bat comes with a John Taube PSA/DNA LOA graded a near-perfect GU 9.5. Autograph certified by PSA/DNA as well.
