Addendum: Shaq wore his Dunk.Net brand shoes in 2000-01 before sporting his Dunkman brand from 2001-03 with the Lakers.

Shaquille O'Neal earned 15 All-Star appearances over his sensational career but it wasn’t until he signed with the Los Angeles Lakers joining a teenaged Kobe Bryant in 1996 and coach Phil Jackson a few years later that he had that sweet taste of victory champagne. His first title came at the conclusion of L.A.’s dominant 1999-2000 campaign in which O’Neal was named league MVP. In 2000-01 “Diesel” and the Lakers breezed through the playoffs undefeated sweeping all three series until the NBA Finals where they defeated Philadelphia in five to go back-to-back. They lost only one game the entire 2001 postseason. Shaq and the Lakers completed their epic “three-peat” in 2001-02 by sweeping New Jersey. He was named Finals MVP for the third straight time. Presented here is a pair of Shaquille O’Neal’s circa 2001-03 game-worn sneakers from that special era of early 2000’s Laker dominance.

The mid-top Dunkman signature model sneakers come in white with a silver tone and feature an elastic shoelace cover. The interior tagging of each shoe is hand-written with dates and codes that we cannot decipher: “STYLE: S4705” – “LAST: 1715” – “BTTM: CH070” – “DATE: 17/31”. No size is indicated but they appear to come in his monster size 22. “SHAQ” is stamped on the gray tongues in shiny silver with his Dunkman logo (a silhouette of Shaq dunking). This same logo is also found on the outer ankles lower heels insoles and outsoles. His No. “34” appears in large rubber purple and gold Lakers colors on the outsoles. The original insoles and white laces are present. The shoes display light but appropriate wear. The Dunkman brand is one of Shaq’s many entrepreneurial business ventures he oversaw during the course of his playing days something he continues to do now while he moonlights as a TNT analyst with Chuck Kenny and Ernie. “The Big Aristotle” will be inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame next month in Springfield.
