Trevor Hoffman was one of the greatest closer in Major League Baseball history. Through 16 seasons with the San Diego Padres and two more with the Milwaukee Brewers Hoffman compiled a then-MLB record 601 saves a mark since surpassed by the recently retired Mariano Rivera. This lot features Hoffmans autographed and game-worn 2000 San Diego Padres Home jersey. The pinstriped size 52 Russell Athletic polyester jersey exhibits moderate wear and shows PADRES across the front in blue tackle twill outlined in white and orange. Proper tagging is found on the left front tail with the manufacturer's logo sewn on beside two strip tags reading "Size 52 100% POLYESTER" and "2" EXTRA LENGTH." Some slight fraying of his name (HOFFMAN) and his uniform number 51 can be seen on the reverse. The San Diego Padres Baseball Club embroidered patch can be found on the left sleeve. During the season itself Hoffman posted 43 saves and stuck out 85 batters through 72 innings worth of work. Hoffman signed the back of the jersey in silver on the number 1. A great piece of sports memorabilia celebrating one of the finest firemen in baseball history.
