From the face of the New York Yankees franchise through the entire run of its late 1990's dynasty comes this handsome game-issued World Series jersey from 2000 the famed "Subway Series" that revitalized a grand tradition from the 1950's this time with the Bombers drubbing their Flushing Meadows neighbors the Mets in five games. Jeter was named Most Valuable Player of the series the only one of his career.
Jeter is the team's all-time career leader in hits (3465) doubles (544) games played (2747) stolen bases (358) times on base (4716) plate appearances (12602) and at bats (11195). His accolades include 14 All-Star selections five Gold Glove Awards five Silver Slugger Awards two Hank Aaron Awards and a Roberto Clemente Award. Jeter became the 28th player to reach 3000 hits and finished his career sixth all-time in career hits and the all-time MLB leader in hits by a shortstop.
The jersey has Russell Athletic tagging on the front left tail with flag tags attached with Size 46 and 100% Polyester and an adjacent strip tag with "YO." Famed Yankee interlocking "NY" logo appears on the front of the pinstriped jersey in navy blue tackle twill as does his No. 2 on the back. The embroidered MLB batter logo appears at the back of the collar and the shirt has the black armband on the left sleeve notes the passing of former manager and Hall of Famer Bob Lemon. The 2000 World Series embroidered patch appears on the right sleeve.
According to Dave Grob of MEARS this jersey was World Series game-issued and game-ready but not officially game-worn during series. The jersey was initially obtained from a Chicago White Sox bat boy (1999-2007) who received memorabilia from players via trades during that time.
