Marcelo Balboa was the backbone of the 1998 US Men's National Team, a two-time MLS Defender of the Year and one of the defining figures of American soccer's developmental era, and this jersey was worn during the FIFA World Cup France 98. The white Nike home model jersey with navy collar, red and navy chest stripe, and the official 'FIFA World Cup France 98' text embroidered on the chest is entirely period-correct. BALBOA and #17 appear on the reverse, with the lettering and numbering showing the heavy cracking and distressing consistent with genuine match use, the hallmark of a garment that saw real competition. Authentication is provided by MEARS with wear described as "heavy".
