A member of the Class of 2025 Hall of Fame inductees, Ichiro Suzuki blazed a trail of batting, fielding, and base-stealing awards from his native Japan to the United States. Ichiro wore this Orix Blue Wave road jersey during the 1998 Nippon Baseball League season. The future Hall of Famer won the Pacific League batting championship for the fifth straight year and would open the door to a career in America by hitting .380 in a postseason series against MLB All-Stars. The blue road jersey has “ORIX” across the chest in yellow with Ichiro’s number “50” below. Yellow and blue ribbing rings the neck and sleeves, and a Mizuno Pro label is sewn inside the back tail with a “98-51” strip tag affixed. The left sleeve has the “Blue Wave” patch, and the right has the “KOBE” patch. The back of the jersey has “ICHIRO” in yellow above his number “51” in gold and blue. The jersey shows moderate game use with bright colors throughout. Vintage NPL game-used jerseys are scarce, and one from a star as revered as Ichiro Suzuki would be the cornerstone of any advanced collection.
