This 1997 Bowman Chrome #298 Lance Berkman rookie card has been graded PSA Gem Mint 10. Bowman Chrome's refractor-style chromium card stock from the late 1990s is notoriously difficult to grade at the highest level, prone to surface scratching, edge chipping, and centering inconsistencies straight from the printing process, making true Gem Mint 10 examples genuinely scarce relative to the set's print run. A perfect grade requires flawless centering, four sharp corners with no wear, full original chrome luster, and surfaces completely free of scuffing or print defects. As Berkman's first Bowman Chrome card and one of his key rookie-era issues following his standout collegiate career at Rice, a Gem Mint 10 grade places this copy among the finest surviving examples of a card type widely recognized as one of the harder modern chrome issues to find in pristine condition.
