During the 1997-98 NBA season L.A. Lakers center Shaquille ONeal played in just 60 regular-season games but still led the team to a 61-21 record good enough for a second-place finish in the Western Conferences Pacific Division. ONeal led the Lakers in scoring (28.3 points per game) and rebounds (11.4). This lot features ONeals 1997-98 L.A. Lakers game-worn purple road uniform. The size 56 Nike mesh jersey shows light wear and includes proper tagging on the left front tail. The Nike manufacturers tag is positioned in between the NBA Authentics tag and the size (56) tag which includes a sewn-on strip tag reading: LENGTH + 4. Team name Lakers can be found across the front of the jersey in gold tackle twill with white outline just above ONeals jersey number (34) that is in white tackle twill with gold outlining. On the reverse is his last name ONEAL in gold tackle twill with white outline just above his jersey number in white tackle twill with gold outlining. The NBA logo patch can be found on the front left side just above the Lakers name.
The accompanying size 52 Nike purple-and-yellow shorts include the proper manufacturers tag on the rear inside of the waistband sandwiched in between the NBA Authentics and Los Angeles Lakers sewn-in tags. Attached to the bottom of the Nikes size tag is a strip-tag reading: INSEAM + 3. Both a washing instructions tag along with a Nike 1997-98 tag can be found just behind the strip tag. The embroidered NBA logo patch is on the right side of the shorts. ONeals uniform number (34) is written in black marker just to the left of the Nike size 52 callout. The Lakers made it all the way to the Western Conference Finals that season before bowing out in four straight to the Utah Jazz.
