From one of the greatest power forwards ever comes this awesome pair of Karl Malone 1997-98 game-worn signature model sneakers from the prime of his unparalleled career one virtually without comparison in terms of consistency sheer audacity and performance. His statistics speak volumes: two-time league MVP (1997 and '99) 14-time All-Star 11-time First Team All-NBA two-time Olympic gold medalist and second most points scored in NBA history behind only Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. He was voted to the prestigious NBA 50 Greatest Players list in 1996. Malone averaged 27 points and 10.3 rebounds during the 1997-98 campaign as the Utah Jazz earned their second straight berth in the NBA Finals against the Bulls. If not for an apparent push-off by Michael Jordan on Byron Russell for the winning jumper in Game 6 it may have been Malone Stockton and the Jazz who hoisted the Larry O'Brien Trophy.
Malone debuted these APEX Mailman PE (player exclusive) shoes during the 1997 NBA Finals against Chicago. He wore them throughout the 97-98 season and sporadically during his 2nd MVP season in 1998-99. Apex never released this original signature model to retail stores. Featuring a white leather upper with wavy purple and gold synthetic overlays along the side panels the sneakers have "Mailman 32" embroidered near the collar while the APEX logo appears above the lateral midsole. Additional APEX embroidery runs down the tongue with teal detailing on the fabric lace loops. The heels have an "MVP 32" rubber logo. The original APEX insoles and white laces are present. APEX did not list the size but they appear to come in his appropriate size 16. Malone has signed and inscribed the lower outside of each shoe with his uniform number in 9/10 black marker. On the upper ankles he has personalized each "To Mike" and added what appears to be "MVP" on the outer midsole. The shoes exhibit appropriate game use with stretching a few contact marks and heel drag. All elements are completely intact as-issued and problem-free. Impressive gamers from a legendary Hall of Famer.
