In 1996 at the age of 32 slugging first baseman Mark McGwire was competing in his 11th season with the Oakland Athletics. The former A.L. Rookie of the Year winner from 1986 was still adept at hitting home runs as he bashed a then-career high 52 for the A's in '96. Still a season away from joining ranks with the St. Louis Cardinals "Big Mac" also tallied a .312 batting average scored 104 runs and drove home 113 runs that season. This lot features McGwire's game-used and dual-signed Oakland A's Reebok signature model cleats from the '96 campaign.

The size 12 1/2 white green and yellow cleats show excessive game wear with chunks and lumps of big league dirt still inhabiting the bottom of both cleats. Both signature model cleats include McGwire's uniform number "25" embroidered in yellow and outlined in green on the rear. On the outside of either cleat is embroidered "TWO-FIVE" in yellow on green leather to further cement that these were McGwire's personal model cleats. He has autographed the toe area of both cleats in green marker which has faded a bit over time. The original black laces remain intact. Several style-matches including Getty 110311156 from the 1996 All-Star Game.

PSA/DNA COA's for both cleats: AA76087 & AA76088.
