In a 22-year Major League career, Ken Griffey Jr has gone down as one of the greatest to ever play the game. A 4-time home run leader (no small feat to do it clean during an era filled with steroid users), Griffey brought excitement to every game he played. Able to turn the tide of a game in his team’s favor with both his bat and defensive skills, Junior would appear in 13 All-Star Games and win an MVP Award. This stunning game used batting helmet was used by Ken Griffey Jr during the 1996 season. Just the previous fall, Griffey had led the Mariners to the first postseason appearance in franchise history. Junior’s dramatic scoring of the winning run in the bottom of the 11th inning of the deciding game of the 1995 ALDS rejuvenated the city of Seattle’s interest in baseball and made Griffey a superstar.
Dating to the 1996 season, this ABC brand helmet has the Seattle Mariners logo decal on the front with Junior’s number “24” in white applied to the brim. The Hall of Famer has signed the brim in bold silver pen next to his number. The back of the helmet has the ABC logo and Griffey’s number “24” repeated in white. The outside shows moderate game use with the expected abrasions and wear expected on a game-used batting helmet. The inside has the 7-1/8 ABC size and warning labels along with a Diamond Collection label. The interior pads show good game use and remains original and intact. An incredibly rare gamer from the prime of Ken Griffey Jr’s Hall of Fame career. Includes COA signed by Griffey. Autograph certified by PSA/DNA (sticker on rear).
