Great lot here with two popular pairs of Shawn Kemp signature model Reebok sneakers game-worn by the high-flying power forward during the Seattle SuperSonics’ outstanding 1995-96 season. "Reign Man" averaged 19.6 points and 11.4 rebounds that year as the Sonics finished the regular season with a franchise-best 64-18 record and advanced to the NBA Finals where they ultimately succumbed to MJ and the Bulls.
The black white and green ‘Kamikaze II’ was Kemp’s second signature model from Reebok and are easily the most popular shoe he ever wore. Reign Man made them famous with his acrobat alley-oop dunks and they remain one of the Reebok’s most iconic pairs ever made with a unique design and coloration that is unmatched. Coming in his size 15 with proper interior tagging the high-tops have “KEMP” on the lace holder and are each signed by Kemp with “#40” inscribed in black on the outer rear heels. Kemp wore Kamikaze II’s for the majority of the ’95-96 regular season.
During the 1996 NBA playoffs Kemp began to wear his next signature model the Reebok Optix Very. This all-white colorway is style-matched throughout the ’96 postseason including the Sonics’ only ever trip to the Finals. Coming in his size 15 with proper interior tagging the high-tops have “KEMP” on the lace holder and are each signed by Kemp with “#40” inscribed in black on the inner ankles. Both pairs are very well-preserved and show outstanding game wear. They come directly from the personal collection of Coby Karl (son of longtime NBA coach George Karl) who played in the NBA from 2007-10. He received all items from his collection either straight from the player or through his father who coached Kemp in Seattle. Hard to beat that provenance!
