William Perry was at one time the most intimidating defensive lineman in football. Standing 6 2 tall and weighing 345 pounds Perry plugged many holes through which many running backs tried unsuccessfully to gain first downs. On the other side of the line of scrimmage Perry was even used on offense for low-yardage plunges into the end zone since few defenses could stop his momentum once he got started. This is Perrys official Chicago Bears jersey that he wore during his last season in Chicago (1993) before joining the Philadelphia Eagles later that same year. The size 50 Champion jersey includes the proper tags on the left front side which includes one that reads: Designed & Tailored 1993 Exclusively for Chicago Bears. The No. 72 jersey shows heavy wear with several paint transfers on the front and back as well as numerous areas where the jersey was stitched from rips sustained during game action. The NFL shield is sewn into the bottom of the V-neck collar and the Champion patch is also sewn onto both sleeves. The initials of former coach and team owner George S. Halas are prominently displayed on the left sleeve. Perrys nameplate with white letters outlined in orange is sewn across the back of the shoulders.
Includes a letter of provenance from the Newport Sports Museum.
