Morten Andersen nicknamed the “Great Dane” was one of the most accurate kickers in NFL history. He is the all-time leader in games played in the NFL at 382 and also holds the distinction of being the all-time leading scorer in NFL history with 2544 points including 565 field goals made. He began his NFL career in 1982 with the New Orleans Saints where he played for 13 seasons before moving to the Atlanta Falcons for the next six seasons then the New York Giants Kansas City Chiefs Minnesota Vikings and then back to the Falcons again for his final two campaigns in 2006 and ’07.
This lot features Andersen’s 1993 game-worn and signed New Orleans Saints black nylon mesh jersey. On the front left tail is a strip tag that reads “Designed & Tailored 1993 Exclusively for NEW ORLEANS SAINTS” that is positioned next to a “Champion” size “50” manufacturer’s tag. On the left inside inseam is a “100% NYLON” tag and a 2” EXTRA BODY LENGTH tag. His iconic uniform number “7” appears heat-pressed and screened-on in white outlined in gold on the front back and on both sleeves. His nameplate – “ANDERSEN” – appears in white letters on a separate sewn-on black nylon nameplate that stretches across the shoulders. Andersen signed the No. 7 in black marker on the back. A heat-pressed outline in gold of the state of Louisiana appears on both sleeves. This game-worn jersey is properly tagged and appears to be in all-original condition. It reflects very light use which is typical for a kicker.
