Super Bowl XXVI which was played on January 26 1992 at the Metrodome in Minneapolis pitted the NFC Champion Washington Redskins against the AFC Champion Buffalo Bills. In a lopsided game the Redskins defeated the Bills by the score of 3724 t become the fourth team after the Pittsburgh Steelers the Oakland Raiders and the San Francisco 49ers to win three Super Bowls. On the flip side of that equation the Bills became just the third team after the Minnesota Vikings (Super Bowls VIII and IX) and the Denver Broncos (Super Bowls XXI and XXII) to lose back-to-back Super Bowls. The Redskins jumped to a 240 lead early in the third quarter from which the Bills could never recover. The staunch Redskins defense sacked Bills QB Jim Kelly four times and also intercepted him four times. Redskins QB Mark Rypien meanwhile completed 18 of 33 passes for 292 yards and two touchdowns and was named Super Bowl XXVI MVP.

Prior to the game fans and prognosticators predicted a tight battle. Both teams finished the regular season with the best record in their respective conference. The Redskins posted a 142 regular season record and led the league during the regular season with 485 points scored. The Bills finished the regular season with a 133 record and advanced to their second consecutive Super Bowl largely through the play of Kelly and the teams "K-Gun" no-huddle offense.

This lot features a magnificent 10K gold 1991 Super Bowl XXVI Championship Ring given to Washington Redskins linebacker Markus Koch who was playing in his sixth and final year with the team. Four design areas (including a pair of Indian feathers) totaling 29 real diamonds of varying sizes cover the top with "Washington Redskins World Champions 1991" surrounding. On one side is "KOCH 74 LB" above the Redskin logo positioned in front of 3 Super Bowl trophies. The other shank reads "HAIL TO THE REDSKINS" above the Super Bowl XXVI logo with a raised image of the White House below it. The inside of the band is stamped "TIFFANY & Co 10K 420." An incredible piece of jewelry designed to celebrate Washingtons third Lombardi Trophy! Ring size 14.

Includes LOA from Markus Koch as well as a hand-written letter from Koch.
