In 1992 the U.S. Mens basketball team captured the gold medal in dominating fashion at the Barcelona Summer Olympic Games. Coached by the late Chuck Daly and dubbed the "Dream Team" they represented the first American Olympic squad to feature active professional NBA players and proved to be unstoppable. They crushed each opponent they played by an average of almost 44 points per game on their way to capturing the gold medal. They defeated Croatia in the championship game by the score of 117-85 close by their standards but blew out earlier opponents by the following margins: Angola (68 points); Croatia (the first time 33); Germany (43); Brazil (44); Spain (41); Puerto Rico (38); and Lithuania (51).
This lot features an official USA Basketball Shooting for Gold 1992 U.S. Olympic Team poster thats been signed by all 12 team members as well as three team coaches: Daly PJ Carlesimo and Lenny Wilkens. Only Coach Mike Krzyzewski is missing. Every player signed the poster with black marker: Michael Jordan; Larry Bird; Magic Johnson; Clyde Drexler; Karl Malone; John Stockton; David Robinson; Patrick Ewing; Charles Barkley; Chris Mullin; Scottie Pippen; and Christian Laettner. In fact Laettner signed it twice. Its extremely rare to have signatures from the entire Dream Team on one poster so this is a significant piece of sports memorabilia from one of the greatest teams ever assembled. The piece which is matted measures 34 wide by 28.25 high.
Includes LOA from Barry Hecker longtime NBA assistant coach and team executive who got each autographs in person. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
