Dikembe Mutombo wore these Adidas shoes in this second NBA season of 1992-93 with the Denver Nuggets during which time he dominated defensively as no other player has before or since. The 7-2 260-lb. center out of Georgetown is commonly referred to as one of the greatest shot blockers and defensive players of all time winning the NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award four times. He was also an eight-time All-Star and was inducted into the Naismith Hall of Fame in 2015. For his career Mutombo averaged 2.8 blocks and 10.3 rebounds per game. He is second all-time in registered blocks behind only Hakeem Olajuwon and is the 21st most prolific rebounder ever. Mutombo also could contribute offensively averaging at least 10 points per game until he reached age 35 and ending with 11729 points and a 9.8 ppg average for his career.
Mutombo has signed both of these monstrous size 22 shoes prominently in 9/10 black Sharpie adding his No. 55 inscription. A unique and colorful "5M5" logo adorns the tongues paying homage to Mutombo's Congo roots and his blue No. 55 is stamped on the outer ankle of each white sneaker with blue and black patterns. The insoles have been removed but the original laces remain. The shoes show substantial wear with no significant deterioration save for some flaking to the blue area above the heels.
