The Hall of Fame and title of “one of the greatest catchers in MLB history” were still a long way off when Ivan Rodriguez was swinging this bat in 1991. The 19-year-old Rangers rookie debuted in June of ’91 and soon hit his first home run – the youngest player to do so in franchise history. Besides his big bat, “Pudge” made a quick name for himself as one of the most dangerous catchers to try to steal a base on. He finished 4th in the Rookie of the Year voting and would go on to win an MVP Award in 1999 and ALCS MVP Award in 2003. Rodriguez’s rookie season Adirondack '484B' Professional Model bat is un-cracked and displays outstanding game use. The barrel shows many ball marks with stitch impressions, white leather scuffs and ink transfers along with cleat impressions and blue and red bat rack paint streaks. The handle has been taped in a crisscross pattern to enhance the grip and a moderate coat of pine tar is on the handle. The model number, order number and year have been stamped into the knob and the weight and “Rodriguez” and his number “7” have been handwritten in black ink. Rodriguez has completed this outstanding rookie gamer with a solid blue ink signature on the barrel. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA and has been graded a flawless GU 10.
