In 1989 a very young 20-year-old Gary Sheffield was playing in his first full season in the big leagues as a member of the Milwaukee Brewers. The right-handed slugger who became known for his ferocious swing hit five home runs 18 doubles and knocked in 32 runs while playing in a total of 95 games that season. He would go on to hit a total of 509 round-trippers over the course of his 22-year MLB career.

This lot features Sheffield’s game-used Rawlings Adirondack Big Stick “Shepp-Dog” professional model bat from the 1989 campaign a season in which he played shortstop. The 34-inch bat shows ample game usage with plenty of contact cleat and bat rack marks throughout. A very small one-inch crack is evident on the handle about nine inches up from the knob. The bat has been authenticated by PSA/DNA and received a grade of GU 8.

Includes LOA from John Taube of PSA/DNA with GU 8 grade.
