A beautiful Type 1 photo of Mario Lemieux taken during the season he dethroned “The Great One.” In the 1987-88 season, Lemieux did the impossible by winning the Hart Memorial Trophy as the league's Most Valuable Player, breaking Wayne Gretzky’s seven-year streak of claiming that title. That season, Lemieux also won his first scoring title and took home the All-Star Game MVP award with a six-goal game – a new record. This Type 1 photo is a spectacular closeup of Mario Lemieux on the ice during that tremendous season. Not many Type 1s of Lemieux exist; this example is certainly one of the best. The front of the photo has some light staining on the bottom portion of the white border. The reverse has the Le Presse stamp and various date stamps. The photograph measures 8” x 10” and has been encapsulated and graded a Type 1 by PSA.
