The pride of Michigan State University Magic Johnson revolutionized the point guard position in the NBA and his rivalry with Larry Bird (which stemmed from the rivals' final showdown at the NCAA level) sparked a fan resurgence in the 1980's. Offered here is a Los Angeles Lakers home jersey worn by Johnson during the 1988-89 campaign a season that brought the hoops icon his second of three career MVP laurels. This late-career representation has a gold-colored mesh body with purple-and-white striped ribbed knit neck and arm yoke trim. In purple-on-white double tackle twill "Lakers" is sewn across the chest with "32" applied to the front and back in the same configuration. His name is arched atop the number on the back and sewn directly to the jersey. This jersey tail is loaded with correct labels which include an "88" year swatch a "2" L.B." custom swatch a strip tag denoting "Designed & Tailored Exclusively for LOS ANGELES LAKERS" and a "MacGregor/Sand-Knit" size "42" manufacturer's label. The NBA silhouette logo adorns the base of the left arm stirrup. The jersey shows light wear; Johnson has provided an attractive black Sharpie autograph to the front of the shirt on the white tackle twill of the "2" in his uniform number.
